for those recount things? A source close to someone who met Stein once says that she used it all to buy lottery tickets. Surely she'd win the big one with that many tickets...right? No joy. She had a few small winners, but bought more tickets for the next week's game. Broke. Busted. Penniless.
I heard from the same source that she had to pawn that wolf-fur collared coat Putin gave her so she could pay the rent. Except that the pawn shop told her it was just coyote fur and that the coat was made in Mexico. He gave her $10 out of pity and she went to Taco Bell. And now, Putin won't return her calls.
That's what I'm hearing from my sources about all that. The guy I talked to said that he didn't think Jill Stein got completely assembled from the start. I don't know what he meant by that, though.

(90,755 posts)Hillary did not waste any time "fighting" Stein, though Stein's followers kept up a lively flow of disinformation about Hillary throughout, and I for one am neither going to forgive nor forget that.
Jill Stein is no friend of the Democratic Party nor of Democrats -- and from the looks of those dinner party photos with Putin, she's no friend to democracy, either.
As for Bernie and Hillary, there was a thing called a Primary Election, and once it was over, Hillary got down to brass tacks while Bernie continued to grumble for awhile. Some of his supporters just could not let it go, and at DU they had to be escorted off the board until they cooled off. After a decent interval, Bernie came around and campaigned for Hillary like a gentleman.
The Primaries are over. The TOS says do not continue to refight them. Be advised.
Welcome to DU. Enjoy your stay.

As for her "not completely assembled from the start," I think that makes sense to me.

(146,321 posts)an election, especially when there are more than 10,000 votes involved. I don't like investing in lost causes. For me, the sadness was about our inability to turn out enough voters in those three states to overcome the usual third party nonsense. Just not enough people voted to correct the mistakes of those who voted in protest. And Jill Stein's recount fizzled even more quickly than expected. Not much of a surprise, though.
In this country, third parties can only be spoilers when it comes to presidential elections. I had thought we'd have had enough of that in 2000, but I guess not. So much more is the pity in 2016.
Now, we have a genuine disaster underway. We may be able to salvage it, but that's not certain, by any means. As an old man, I never know when an election will be my last. I find this loss in 2016 to be a real blow.
Do I blame Jill Stein? Not really. I just think she's silly and that her candidacy was never much more than a bad joke. There's always a protest vote of some kind by people who aren't getting the fact that someone like Trump could win. I'm sure many Stein voters now regret their choice, but it's too late for regrets.
We should have won, but we did not. Now, we're trying to pick up the pieces. And there are so many, and they're so small that I'm not sure we'll ever get them all back. Too bad for us, really. Too bad, in truth.

(58,785 posts)my $10 or whatever it was anyway.
Agree with all the rest. It's not a matter of getting all the pieces back, though. Conservatives have been dismantling our government processes for the last 40 years, whenever in office at all levels, and had severely damaged many systems before this election. Government not working adequately, much less well, and even outrageously corrupted, always suits their purposes.
Sp we'll have to rebuild. On the plus side, unlike the generations who came before, whose achievements we allowed to be trashed, we're not exactly doing it for the first time. With the knowledge they, and many in other nations, have left us, we can do it faster and even better.
