(24,259 posts)If they met for legit reasons they wouldn't feel the need to lie, deflect, project or sneak around. They'd be much more upfront, open and honest about meetings with Russian government representatives.
The fact that they've been caught lying repeatedly and that they're going OTT with all the lying, sneaking around and trying to deflect it away from themselves is like a huge flashing neon sign saying 'guilty' to anyone with a brain they actually use.

(194 posts)because he knew that if he did, questions would inevitably be asked about the subject of the meeting, and then he would have had to give very specific answers that would either implicate him if he told the truth, or be impossible to wriggle out of later with an "I misunderstood the question" if he lied and the truth later came out. If he pretended not to remember, that would raise all sorts of red flags.

Contact with foreign government after campaign is expected and part of the system.
I have twice heard the phrase "met with Russian Ambassador at the Republican Convention". Can anyone tell what in the Hell was a representative of a FOREIGN GOVERNMENT doing a political convention except to have influence????????

Tell me this guy, Sergey Kislyak doesn't look like a Russian version of Chris Christie. I'm thinking all that laundered money buys a lot of yummy American Krispy Kremes. Wash that down with some Vodka and here you have it:

Jokes aside, the art of the steal doesn't work forever. I deeply believe good will be triumphant over evil. We can't lose hope.

(32,074 posts)Should we break relations? Go to war? President Obama, the adult in the room, said the other day that the Russians, in the form of the Soviet Union, have been interfering in U.S. elections since the end of WW II. People seem to have forgotten the Soviets financed the Henry Wallace (FDR's VP) Presidential campaign in 1948. Yet we have continued to talk and meet with the Soviets and now the Russians all these years. Our national leaders do not seem to have the vapors about these things that many do.

(22,783 posts)It's not that the Russians are inherently bad, though I know that's debatable. It's the nature and purpose of the relationships. These bad dudes want to rule the world and take democracy down. Over my dead body, comrades!
