(8,445 posts)Even "If" (to use Huckabee Sanders' favorite word of the day) 45 isn't guilty, his presidency is so tainted that it's irreparably damaged. He's done.

(2,067 posts)Then we get Pence, whose ideas are just as dangerous, but he actually knows what he's doing.
I'm not sure why so many DUers are getting off on the possibility of a Pence presidency.

I was actually thinking of "done" as in "ineffective". Also, Pence is part of the administration and is now just as tainted as 45, IMO.

(4,674 posts)next 4 years, it's going to be a Republican and he is going to do a lot of damage. It's about mitigating.
I'm concerned internationally. We need to have some predictability, a temperament which is not going to blow up the world before we can get back in control and - once again - start the slow arduous process of rebuilding.
It's a cluster no matter what.

(5,231 posts)Still, it's more terrifying that Trump continues to play games with our democracy with his incredible incompetence.
Pence will lose some (quite a few) of the Trump humpers, because the Trumpies are just a straight-up fucking cult and Pence isn't interesting enough to take his place in a meaningful way.
Silver linings in a really shitty shade of silver.

(111,367 posts)then mentioned it in an article at Brietbart, which Bannon showed to Dolt, who is a credulous fool and took it as gospel.
Now the whole bunch is stuck with an obvious lie and a Dolt who will never admit he's been fooled about anything.
The blowback from this one will be fun to watch.

I hope so anyway.
I wake up each morning thinking we have an idiot in the oval office who thinks Alex Jones and Breitbart are reliable news outlets.
And I want to roll over and go back to sleep until sanity returns.

(2,807 posts)I've been begging someone to get on TV and call Trump a liar for 2 days. Begging.
I started numerous threads here the past 2 days asking why nobody would go on TV and call him a liar.
I did it here first last night. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028747806
Then I tried again this morning here http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028749253
Even though I was flustered I soldiered on and tried again here http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028749577
Mostly I got told I was wrong and I felt like people were looking at me like I had 3 heads.
All I wanted was somebody to call a liar, a liar.

(12,882 posts)Me and mine have been calling him a LIAR even before he got the GOP nominalation. But I know what you mean. The PC is like fragrant cheese here and elsewhere where you'd think there'd be full-blown outrage. This bumbling buffoon is a LIAR And just because he happens to occupy the office of the president doesn't mean he's to be afford some shred of dignity before the oak stake is driven thru his loathsome soul.
The GOP OWNS this mutant. They set the stage for him - cleared a path by moulding the districts to favor him and now don't know HOW to get the filthy slime of him off their suits of complicity. They're SCARED and ELATED at the same time. He's got that powerful pen and they LOVE the way he dismisses decades of progress with one bold scribble of a signature, while at the same time they KNOW the backlash will be devastating once King Bozo's deposed.
Good Boy.

(2,807 posts)We got to destroy him so even the Trump voters finally admit his shit headed Ness.
And he just gave us an opportunity. We didn't even have to go looking for it.
We gotta make the most of it and destroy this fool. Our country depends on it.

(2,807 posts)I don't want Obama to say anything.
I just want our talking heads to say that Trump lied and Libelled Barack Obama.
Isn't that a worthy narrative?
It would just take a little team work.
And its true.
but remember the birther lies were also libelous

(5,730 posts)My First thought was what an idiot, he is opening up an investigation of himself...go 4 it! Then, I thought Chaffetz, Turtleman, their chance to make up more lies...I guess it will keep them busy...it is also a deflection from DT's real lies.
It is a sad day, when I dont even consider that someone in Repub leadership would seek the truth.
At least FBI denied.
Of course, we know there us not a chance in hell they would find something on obama, unless they make it up.
Alice11111
(5,730 posts)...although his spokesperson did deny it. Now Comey by implication denied it. Yes, called him a liar. Comey is trying to give the Repubs a chance to deny it and take away his tweeter.

Lets begin with what the public can know for certain. President Trump had no evidence on Saturday morning when he smeared his predecessor, President Barack Obama, accusing him of ordering that Trump Tower phones be tapped during the 2016 campaign. Otherwise, the White House would not be scrambling to find out if what he said is true.
Just contemplate the recklessness the sheer indifference to truth and the moral authority of the American presidency revealed here: one president baselessly charging criminality by another, all in a childish Twitter rampage.
The Times reported on Sunday that the F.B.I. director, James Comey, was so alarmed by Mr. Trumps fact-free claim which implicitly accused the F.B.I. of breaking the law by wiretapping an American citizen at a presidents behest that he was asking the Justice Department to publicly call it false. In other words, the F.B.I. director was demanding that Justice officially declare the president to be misleading the public.
This is a dangerous moment, which requires Congress and members of this administration to look beyond partisan maneuvering and tend to the health of the democracy itself.
Mr. Trump is now trying to bootstrap his claims into a congressional investigation of the Obama administration. On Sunday Sean Spicer, his press secretary, issued a statement demanding that congressional intelligence committees, led by Republicans friendly toward Mr. Trump, determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016. Representative Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and a member of Mr. Trumps transition team, quickly made clear he intended to do the presidents bidding.
