I'm eternally curious as to why he walked away from medicine. As far as I know, he's not even consulting. Pediatric Neurosurgery isn't exactly an overstaffed specialty. If, for some reason, he is no longer capable of performing surgery, it is surprising that he didn't, at least, keep his skills useful by consulting or teaching.

My job was credentialing physicians. If I still had access to the pertinent information sources, it would be very interesting to look for clues.

7. That number isn't really unusual for a neurosurgeon.

And the National Practitioner Data Bank reflects cases that are settled and dismissed, so I don't know his actual number of settlements, or their detail/amount without viewing the report. Part of my old job was reviewing malpractice cases, both settled and dismissed, and some of the situations reflected some pretty outrageous accusations against physicians by patients with documented non-compliant behavior, that were real head shakers.

However, there can be egregious and repeat errors and less than acceptable outcomes that would reflect on a diminishing skill. During my experience in the field, hospitals and insurance companies no longer 'overlook' physicians, especially neurosurgeons, when their performance shows problems.

being harassed by the IRS (he implied that someone in the Obama Admin put the IRS up to it).

I saw the video sometime in late 2015, but it was several months old then...

8. He retired in 2013, so that timeline probably fits, nicely

I can appreciate that being in his early 60's, his fine motor skills are not what the were. But it still surprises me that he doesn't consult or teach. Hearing some of the completely inane stuff he's been spewing leads me to believe that he might not even be up to doing either of those jobs.

16. He said, in an interview, that he wanted to quit while he was 'on top'.

The more I read about him, the crazier he sounds so my suspicions remain very active.

It's a pearl that turns the sentence into jewelry.

"Fukkity, fuck, fuking fuk fuking fukitty fuks" is a string of pearls.

Whoopi was kind. That idiot should be instructed to open his eyes and set out to wander in the Egyptian desert to find grain in the triangle shaped silos.
