Scarborough slammed the House GOP bill, which has drawn widespread criticism, as both poorly thought-out and clumsily rolled out.
Can you imagine how badly theyre misplaying all of this? Scarborough said Thursday on Morning Joe.
He pointed out that the AARP, along with the conservative groups Freedom Works and Club for Growth, were all working against the legislation, and Scarborough blasted GOP lawmakers for cruel comments about low-income Americans.
In Trump country, when he gave the American carnage speech, it deeply resonated with them in all of these places, Schmidt said. Ill show you a suicide epidemic, an obesity epidemic, an opioid epidemic, a heroin epidemic and these are parts of the country that need access to both health care and health insurance. No matter what happens in the wash with all of this, you will be taking health care insurance and potentially access to health care away from these people with deadly political consequences, perhaps.

(11,742 posts)They are actually telling the truth for once. This is what they have wanted to do for decades. This is what they think of the rest of the population.
This isn't poorly thought out, or clumsily rolled out. This is textbook Republican policy. There was never any other plan, there was never any intention to "fix" anything. President Obama (with the scorn of many Progressives) promoted the most conservative legislation that might actually do something to help some people, but the conservatives of today railed on it like it was a Stalin 5 year plan. They immediately tried to cut the legs out from under it, and in some ways, with the blocking of mandatory Medicaid expansion, they took a huge chunk out of it.
There was nowhere else for conservatives to go on healthcare except to their bread and butter, "Health Savings Accounts", tax credits instead of direct subsidy, selling insurance across State lines, and the crowning jewel of Republican economics, block granting and capping Medicaid to the States. That is all they have. Notice that they delayed the ending of most of the beneficial programs until after the elections. However, they are trying to kill the mandate on which the whole ACA house of cards was built. We will see the death spiral of any kind of systematic healthcare within a couple of years if they take out the mandate, that is the engine of the entire system.
Take Ryan at his word when he says, "This is what we promised to do". Some one needs to have that sound byte on a constant loop, especially when things really start to fall apart. Trumpcare is like any other Trump product, a piece of crap with a tacky shiny label intended to defraud the suckers who invest in it.
