We should pressure those same priests and bishops to refuse communion for those politicians who are outright defying the teachings of Christ in regards to the poor and the least amongst us.

He has shown compassion

But still sticks to medieval church practices. A key example is contraception. On of the only places in the world where the church is growing is Africa.

Endorsing condoms in places that are suffering though an HIV/ADIS epidemic would save a lot of lives. But that won't happen.

You can't adore Ayn Ryan's contempt for the poor and still profess to being a true Christian. Helping the poor is the most basic tenant of Christianity.

Didn't Pro Life Catholics say church members who are Pro Choice should be denied communion?

The letter says, ''We would be remiss in our duty to you and our students if we did not challenge your continuing misuse of Catholic teaching to defend a budget plan that decimates food programs for struggling families, radically weakens protections for the elderly and sick, and gives more tax breaks to the wealthiest few.''

''Your budget appears to reflect the values of your favorite philosopher, Ayn Rand, rather than the Gospel of Jesus Christ,'' says the letter, which the faculty members sent to Mr. Ryan along with a copy of the Vatican's Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church -- ''to help deepen your understanding of Catholic social teaching.''

Edit: Repukes hate the Kennedys but they were Catholics who truly understood the social teachings of Catholicism.
