Oklahoma state senator found with boy in motel charged with prostitution

By Jon Herskovitz

An Oklahoma Republican state senator who campaigned as a champion of family values was charged with felony prostitution on Thursday after authorities found him in a motel room with a teenage boy, county officials said.

Ralph Shortey, 35, was charged with three felony counts, including engaging in child prostitution, the office of the Cleveland County District Attorney said. Shortey, who has served since 2010, has not spoken to media about the incident.

According to an arrest affidavit, police found Shortey and a 17-year-old male, who was not named, in a motel room in Moore, south of Oklahoma City, on March 9.

"Officers present observed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the room and inside the room at the time of their contact with the defendant," the affidavit said.

that it is 1000 times more likely that your child will be sexually assaulted by a Republican politician than by a transgender person.

lured this unsuspecting, god fearing political servant and family man into this foul encounter. probably told him it was just a “hand rolled cigarette” they were sharing. for shame young man!! can't wait for the presser with his wife and kids standing off to his right trying to look supportive. and i'm sure after his statement of contrition his constituents and jeebus will forgive him.

If he were a Democrat all the headlines would have been "Democratic state senator..."

And the religious troll in the governor's mansion was too stupid even for T-rump to find her a job.

What gets you ahead in politics in Oklahoma is 1) Fealty to Big Oil, and 2) Gun-toting Jesus/Megachurch affiliation

Now they are talking about selling off ALL the state parks. Which won't even come close to filling the $800 million budget hole created by their tax-breaks to the top 1%. It will make matters worse, in fact.

Trail of Tears .. Grapes of Wrath .. Tornado Alley.

But Syrian refugees would find this place a paradise! And actually GOOD for the state. But the GOPers just don't see it.

Irony, that.
