my wife and I paid under under $4800 in federal taxes. Given our gross income, that's a bit smaller than expected, but "in range" for the income range we're in and higher than in some previous years.

Averages are fine, but without standard deviations and at times skewness they're pretty lame. It's like nothing that those in the bottom 20% of households paid -600 dollars on average; some, of course, still paid a positive amount.

I should have pointed out that the numbers/calculations reflect the cost per American, as described in the Time article that I cited above.

These cuts are so idiotic.

They are all punitive and ignorant and serve no purpose whatsoever other than to thumb the suspenders and say, "I'm stickin' it to those elite liberals."
