Glencore would not comment on the identity of the Cayman Islands firm or give a further explanation of how ownership of the 19.5 percent stake was divided.

Trump has stakes in four companies that appear to be tied in business in the desert nation. The countrys state-owned carrier, Qatar Airways, has leased an office in Manhattans Trump Tower since 2008. Ivanka Trump told Hotelier Middle East in 2015 that the Trump Hotel Collection was eyeing opportunities in Qatar.
