Isn't it fairly obvious that the Republicans do not wish to work with the Democrats?
When was the last time the Republican Party worked with the Democrats in a bi-partisan way?
For example, they now have a fellow that has been nominated for the Supreme Court and they want the Democrats to work with them and confirm him for the Court. They ask this favor after blocking a nominee, another reasonable fellow, about a year ago. Some even said they would block the nominee for 4 years if Hillary Clinton won. Do we really wish to work with people like this?
Also, the Democratic Party sees a threat to our democracy with the person in the White House. They see the secretive meetings and trips to Russia by friends of the person in the White House. Since that person in the White House refuses to divulge his income tax returns or to be transparent with his business dealings with other foreign nations - perhaps some adversaries of our nation - it has raised deep suspicions within the Democratic Party. The Republican Party seems to have no problem with those actions of the person in the White House.
In fact, some Democrats might argue that the Republican Party has acted in a subversive way by putting our country in danger, with their support of the person in the White House, with his words and actions, and with their refusal to see any problem with all the circumstantial evidence in the Trump/Russia connection. They have nothing in common with the Democratic Party.
Why should the Democrats agree with them on anything? If everything they are doing, also in their legislation, is doing harm to our people and our country, why should we want to be accomplices??

What is wrong with this picture?
