Why did Nunes go to see Paul Ryan before he visited the White House with information gathered in the investigation of Trump and his associates, in regards to the Russia connection? Did he want to find out what he was having for lunch?
There is little doubt but that Ryan knew of Nunes' plans to tell Trump of the intelligence that had been found against him.
Why didn't he tell him that would be totally wrong and inappropriate?
Somebody needs to ask Ryan when he is going to replace Nunes on the Committee?
It needs to be done soon.

Ryan is complicit in this debacle and the Press needs to push this hard and non-stop.

(9,525 posts)First thing Nunes did was confer with Ryan, who is just as complicit as Nunes, but that piece has been dropped out of the story after Nunes's original presser. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT, PEOPLE! Nunes changed his story and O'Donnell said fell on his sword for Ryan.
O'Donnell did a whole piece on this Thursday that seems to have fallen off the radar.

Has everyone forgotten Ryan told Nunes to tell Trump? Why is Nunes taking all the Heat? (ODonnell)
Given all this, can Ryan be trusted to pick a replacement? Ryan should be (and maybe is) under investigation as well.

(25,265 posts)Ryan is compromised himself. Because he gave Nunes the OK to go to the WH he's part of the problem. He shouldn't have the ability to replace Nunes because of this.

(5,191 posts)While I believe that some Republicans like Mitch McConnell were fully in on the Russian collusion, others like Ryan are willingly going along with all efforts to cover it up. They only care about power and money and are not going to lose it if at all possible, even if it means obstructing justice.
Nunes and Ryan's actions on Thursday, again, scream that there must be an independent prosecutor in the entire matter.

(70,567 posts)The Washington Post reported, According to several officials, McConnell raised doubts about the underlying intelligence and made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics.
The Senate Majority Leader was told that Russia was meddling in the presidential election, and he responded by turning his back on his own country so that a man who will be a puppet of a foreign regime could have a better chance of winning the White House.
When Mitch McConnell was offered a choice between partisan politics and his country, he chose partisanship. Anyone who thinks that this man will ever allow a Republican investigation into Russian election interference is kidding themselves.
Though his opposition, Sen. McConnell made himself complicit in the Russian takeover of the White House. Mitch McConnell wanted Republicans to get the White House back so badly that he sold out his own country to get it.

Nunes is going to extraordinary lengths to provide cover to Trump, and its unclear when hell stop. Heres a comprehensive timeline of his actions this week:
On Monday, during a hearing of the House Permanent Subcommittee on Intelligence, the heads of the FBI and NSA categorically denied President Trumps tweets claiming that President Obama had ordered the US intelligence community to wiretap Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Sometime between the hearing and Wednesday morning, Nunes claimed to have received a tip from an unnamed source that US intelligence had picked up the communications of some Trump staff during the presidential transition.
The raw intelligence that Nunes said he reviewed showed no evidence of a wiretap on Trump. Rather, it showed that the conversations had been intercepted incidentally under a court-ordered Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant. In plain English, that means Trump officials had spoken to a foreign national whose communications were being monitored by US intelligence, so their conversations were picked up despite the fact that they werent targets of surveillance.

(70,567 posts)1) Ryan no doubt told Nunes to go and show Trump the information.
b) Ryan used some of the data that the Russians got in several congressional races.
Ryan, at the request of Donald Trump, asked Nunes to come to the White House for a briefing?? They needed him to make comments that would somehow "vindicate" Donald Trump from any wrongdoing. So they gave Nunes the script.
Nunes has seen no new intelligence. He is carrying water and lies for Donald Trump and Paul Ryan.
This is another scenario.
Botany
(70,567 posts)So Ryan told Nunes to go to the White House w/"new" information that
backed up Trump's story that President Obama was wire tapping him?
kentuck
(111,110 posts)He has a straight line to Paul Ryan. He calls Ryan to see if he can get Nunes to come to the White House for a meeting? Nunes did not do it on his own - he was asked to do it by Paul Ryan - at the request of Donald Trump.
Trump is always looking out for number one. He wants Nunes to peddle a story that will make it appear that his name was only "incidentally" mentioned in conversations between two foreign targets? Nunes then makes up a story that he received some "intelligence" that no one else had. He is just following the orders of his President. As is Paul Ryan.
MadLinguist
(790 posts)And number 2 would put Ryan in the cross-hairs of election interference investigation, and possibly whichever Congress people (or Senators) were the beneficiaries of the Russian data. If that's right, then Ryan, Trump, McConnell and those beneficiaries are tied together in their messaging. The cesspool would be so large in this scenario, you have to wonder whether there are information channels that Trump and Bannon are having to keep up, playing some cesspoolians against others. There are almost certainly several such channels in the Trumphouse eddying and swirling around. Devin Nunes' blurt that he went to Ryan before going to Trump is just the first of many slips that are going to start showing up.

kentuck
(111,110 posts)So he could say he had some intelligence that had been given to him (he had none) that showed the FISA Court had "incidentally" discovered Mr Trump and other's names in the investigation and he thought he should tell Mr Trump about it. When, in fact, it was Mr Trump telling Nunes what to say. At one time, someone even suggested the "intelligence" may have come from the White House itself.
Mr. Nunes is being used to spread false propaganda for the benefit of the White House. So is Paul Ryan.

His panic would make more sense in that context.
