Any chance Caroline Kennedy or one of her cousins seek the Democratic nomination for President in 2020, The 60th Anniversary of her father getting elected President.

(21,188 posts)I remember they were trying to get her to run for the senate in New York and she did not come off well. Maybe being ambassador in Japan helped her speaking skills.

(7,349 posts)But got slammed a lot here on du for suggesting it...of course I did happen to mention her lineage which caused a little negative uproar. It's all good, that's what discussions are for right?
I'm liking Joe III myself, not sure if our shining star has presented themselves yet tho...too early to tell...need to live that long.

(4,515 posts)please, we ain't that old.
I know she's a very intelligent woman but she seems very private and perhaps shy.

(5,525 posts)I'd say in this instance, the chances are pretty slim.

(8,617 posts)Warren seeks the Democratic nomination for President, wins both the primary and the General Election. Joe III runs for the MA US Senate Seat previously held by his grand uncles JFK and Ted in the 2021 special election.
Warren seeks the Democratic nomination for President, wins the primary but loses the general election. Joe III runs for the other MA US Senate seat in 2020 (assuming Markey retires) then runs for President in 2024.
Warren seeks the Democratic nomination for President but loses the primary. Whoever wins the Democratic nominee for President in 2020 decides to select Joe III as the VP runningmate. Joe III runs for President in 2024 if Trump is re-elected or 2028 if Trump is defeated.
Warren decides not to run in 2020. Joe III decides to run for President in 2020 after 7 to 8 years service in the US House of Representative.

(53,061 posts)Obviously you have never seen her give a public address. She is painfully shy and hates to make speeches as she will repeat before and after she speaks.
She only made a few speeches for Obama because of her deep respect for him.
Any discussion beyond 2018 House and Senate races is pointless.
Ms. Kennedy has made it crystal clear she has zero interest in elected office.
"Or one of her cousins?" How is this considered an informed sentence.

(100,102 posts)The GOP hates the Kennedys as much as they hate the Clintons and they will work to annihilate her in the general election. We need another Obama or Sanders to run.

Gillibrand will probably not run for the Senate 2018 if she decides to run for the ticket in 2020.
The GOP is planning for John Faso to also run for the senate seat in 2018.
