Obstruction of justice?: Trump's team "wiping their elec devices" in anticipation of subpoenas

White House officials and members of Donald Trump’s transition team are reportedly “purging” their electronic devices to avoid being compromised by subpoenas, it has been claimed.

The accusation comes just weeks after government lawyers ordered the President’s aides to preserve any materials that could be connected to Russian interference in the 2016 election.

One legal expert told MSNBC - the channel that first reported the allegations based on testimony from an inside source - there could be “legal ramifications” for staff who destroyed crucial evidence relating to ongoing investigations.

The Trump administration is currently under FBI investigation for possible collusion between Russian operatives and presidential aides.

Most investigators I know will tell you that you can wipe your DEVICE all day long, but that information is still alive somewhere. The information on your computer/device doesn't just live on that device. It's ALL stored somewhere else (especially if it came from somewhere else and was delivered over the internet--like emails, texts, etc.) and those records can still be accessed. Even if you just delete it from your device, it's still there. The only way to wipe it off your device completely is overwrite the hard drive with all zeroes, and then you lose EVERYTHING. And when an investigator finds a device with all zeroes written to it, that's a pretty obvious violation of the Order to Preserve (and therefore an Obstruction charge is a slam dunk). Just ask Tom Brady and Aaron Hernandez if getting rid of your phone saves you.
