Walking and chewing gum...

The Repubs are up to their old games.

They are trying to push thru Gorsuch in a hurry after they refused for almost a year to even hold a vote for Merrick Garland. They are trying to intimidate a few shaky Democrats by threatening the "nuclear option" - which is totally irrelevant to the Democratic Party anyway - and would mean nothing to Democrats at this time. Tell the Republicans to go for it.

Also, they are playing a similar game with their next issue on the agenda - taxcuts for the wealthy - disguised as taxcuts for the middle class. Democrats have run scared of the taxcut issue for many years. They need to oppose these cuts from the beginning. They will do nothing but create more deficits, creating the demand for more cuts in programs later on. Each of these issues is a diversion for the other.
