About "working with Democrats"
I see a lot of "not only no, but HELL no!"
And I do, indeed, get that. And I feel it. And I agree with it.
But that's my gut reaction, pugnacious side.
My pragmatic side sees this as an advantage. If we can bring in the language of a bill that truly fixes some or all of the flaws in the ACA, we should do that. And make the details public to inoculate against blowback or pushback.
I also think one of the things we need to do is fix, once and for all, something the GOPee did and which we bought into as well. Get rid of the name(s) - both Obama Care and Affordable Care Act. They just yank partisan chains. So, in fact, does their AHCA - American Health Care Act.
It doesn't matter what they name it so much as what they DON'T name it. Change the name far away from ACA or ACHA. No Obama Care. No Ryan Care. No Trump Care.
Start with everything we want and go from there. Talk to 45/140. Be as public and transparent as possible, Don't allow them to take sole ownership. Work it so that Mulvaney and Price are, at most, at the edges.
45/140 wants a win. Democrats and a minority to Republicans can bring this home.
And if THAT happens, WE win. WE being the Democrats and, most of all, the American people. Also, 45/140 wins. If we get what I think is possible, letting him take a victory lap is a small price.
I feel so strongly about this, I would even tolerate Gorsuch if we get what we want on health care.
