By Alison R. Parker | March 22, 2017
Democratic women are turning their loss last November into action. In the few months since the election, thousands of them have made plans to run for office themselves, proving that the resistance is female and so is the future.
In her first public statement after the inauguration, Hillary Clinton recorded a moving message for the Makers Conference, in which she declared that, Despite all the challenges we face, I remain convinced that, yes, the future is female.
And women across the country agree.
Since the November election, over 10,000 Democratic women have contacted EMILYs List with the desire to run for office themselves. As Stephanie Schriock, the organizations president, noted in a statement, Over ten thousand women isnt a ripple its a wave. She noted that these numbers are a testament to the energy, determination, and resistance weve seen from Day One of Donald Trumps presidency.
Indeed, women have made their readiness to fight back against the Trump administration, and Trump himself, loud and clear from the public sphere to within the halls of Congress, where Democratic womens wins in November have made this the most diverse Congress in U.S. history.
It is heartening for those in the resistance to see so many women inspired by those wins, rather than being demoralized by the still-painful shock of Trumps election. As Schriock further declared,
The election may be in the past, but the future is still wide open. And Democratic women across the nation are ready to take the lead.

(61,695 posts)I'd love to be able to see the destiny of this movement fulfilled, even if I've got one foot in the grave.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if THAT was the legacy of trump's time in office? LOL

(22,670 posts)A silver lining to when 66 million voters vote for the popular candidate but get nullified by 79,000 voters, duped by propaganda and Jame's Comey's Hatch Act violation ten days before the election.
Glad something good will come of this coup. I still feel our nation has lost out in so many positive ways had HRC and Kaine been elected. What a travesty!

(15,540 posts)Most of my adult life I've said that this country would be better off if women (well, Democratic women) were running the country.
Now let's all do whatever we can to support the ones we think are worthy.
