I think he's appropriately counterweighed by Bassem Youssef (who has been making the late night rounds) who says that we must laugh in the face of tyranny. And I'm more inclined to ascribe to the opinion of the guy who got arrested and exiled from Egypt for speaking out against his government, than I am the Yale-educated dude whose experience with tyranny is scholarly.

(118,677 posts)4. Humour is important when you are going through awful times. If you can step out of your situation
and look at your fear or pain from another perspective you get a little respite and a bigger picture. But I find Snyder's list of 20 really scary and I've only heard 3 of them.
