If anything is found, this committee doesn't pursue anything legally or criminally, correct? I'm not versed at all on where it goes after they issue their report.

And can the thugs do anything to thwart whatever action may be necessary based on the findings of the committee?

Last thing we need at SCOTUS are 5-4 rulings that whatever punishments Trumprussia associates get are "cruel and unusual," and they win their cases.

Then again, if these are criminal cases, I'm not sure they go to the Supremes.

As for Trump, he'll get impeachment proceedings in House first and Senate can remove him. Never got to that point w/Nixon or Bill Clinton (impeached in House for a BJ) but never went to Senate, scared that their own sexual proclivities would be outed.

There were not enough votes of guilty to remove him (two-thirds majority required).

There are three investigations:

One in the senate (actually two, but one with Burr and Warner is the most expansive)
One in the House (the Nunes shitshow)
The FBI investigation

The senate and house investigations have no prosecutorial capabilities. They could only make recommendation, for a more involved bi-partisan commission or special prosecutor, for example. Which, could only be put into action by ... the white house. So ...

Basically, all the congressional hearings do is serve a function to have what is being investigated brought to the public awareness.

The FBI investigation could lead to actual prosecutions, and the white house would have no direct say in it, but it is under the justice department headed by Sessions. These assholes are probably off the hook enough to try to stymie it, but at that point, if the FBI was pushing for prosecutions and the white house was thrawting it, this situation would reach a for real come to jesus moment for the country.

These congress people and senators keep telling us how horrifying the intelligence on the russia trump connection is and yet they are not doing anything about it.

If it is really that bad, we the public need to know. Screw the classification. Either act on it or shut up.

"Just a few peccadillos here and there. Time to get back to reversing Obama."

The more time committees and investigations are active, the more they uncover. Coverups only work if they hold the line until people stop looking. When you reach a conclusion, you stop looking.

"Oh, tRump was indiscreet in the hotel room in Moscow and there were some social media activists in St. Petersburg, Russia. Don't worry. That's all there is to see."

That's not where it ends.

It will come out and disgraced or not the republicans will be forced to act! I'm far from being alone in my belief that they will not be able to keep a lid on it. Yes, the sooner the better, damage is done everyday. Our job... keep the pressure on, one by watching the news programs that are giving good coverage of this. The better their ratings, the more they will dig. Just today the pablum USA Today printed a Russia dump story. Secondly... "keep your eyes on the prize... hold on!"
