Warren-D by a 5 percent margin (43-48)
Biden-D by a 14 percent margin (40-54)
Booker-D by a 3 percent margin (42-45)
Franken-D by a 5 percent margin (41-46)
Sanders-D by a 11 percent margin (41-52)
Biden and Sanders are both well known nationally, however both of these men will be over 75 years old in 2020.
A Warren/Franken ticket in 2020 could guarantee Trump being a one termer.

(4,492 posts)I'm late Gen X/early millennial/February 29 depending on who you ask (1980-- I turned 37 today).
However people born in this century aren't eligible to vote until at least next year (my cousin, 17, is getting a voter registration form from me for her birthday next year).
I want our next presidential nominee to be born after 1960

(4,492 posts)And I actually didn't vote for him in the primary. I think he's done a good job as senator, but I'd rather see someone not from the northeast this cycle.

(26,622 posts)Old white men in suits are running our country. They were doing it when I was young, and, now I'm nearing 70 and they're still doing it. I attended a No Gorsuch rally today, and most of the speakers were young Latino women.. Yay! Most of the old white men were in the crowd with me. No suits to be seen.

Biden and Hillary both appear to be retired.

Kamala Harris, on the other hand, absolutely can run for president in 2020. Jeff Merkley too.

(8,617 posts)2018 CA Governors Race. There was another half term Governor that was a Vice Presidential candidate- Sarah Palin. Newsome is a more seasoned and mature than Palin.

(11,949 posts)Because Trump will not make 4 years.
And I think there is no chance of impeachment.
He is just going to get tired of losing and give it up to play golf.

(8,617 posts)Unlike 2016-Trump was an outsider wealthy businessman, 2020 will be about Trump's record as President-it is and will continue to be very negative. MI,PA,and WI will go back to the Democratic column in 2020. FL,NC,and AZ will be purple blue states in 2020. GA,OH,and TX will be purple red states in 2020.
TX,GA,and AZ are the 3 states in which Trump's 2016 margin of victory is much narrower than Romney's 2012 margin of victory.
If TX goes Democratic in 2020, Democrats will win the election. Winning all of the Clinton 2016 states plus TX gives Democrats 270ev.

(34,857 posts)Hillary won by 3 nationally. Had she won by even 5 nationally, it's probably enough to swing Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

(35,441 posts)We need to stop Trump ASAP, and the best chance at doing that is winning control of the congress in 2018 because if we don't, there may not be much of a country left in 2020.

Of all the dozens of posts I've seen from him about 2020, I've only seen one broaching the subject of the much more important and immediate 2018 elections.
I encourage you to join me in my effort to get him to refocus.
