(14,574 posts)Not trying to denigrate him by any means - he's a good guy. But...he's at the tale end of 'good old,' and on the cusp of 'bad old.'

(10,136 posts)Nunes' district is Fresno County, the San Joachim valley, and parts of Tulare county, hardly southern California.
I wish Takei luck, but California is a very large and varied place.

Besides terms are only 2 years. All he needs to do is toss that flop-sweating jagoff out on his ear.

(10,303 posts)If typical life expectancy for a healthy 79 year old male is anything to go by, it's 8.6 years. I'd even add in his Japanese genetics and throw in a few years extra in there for good measure.
If we can have a senior citizen take over the lease of America's most famous governmental housing complex, then Captain Sulu can make like warp factor 9 to East Capitol St NE & First St SE, Washington, DC 20004, planet Earth, star date minus 303993.48

(3,275 posts)Many people contribute to society in their 70s and 80s. He seems to be in great physical and mental shape. Since it was just a joke, it doesn't matter in his case but I would vote for an older person if they were the right person for the job.

(10,136 posts)to run for Representative - Congressional districts get changed every 10 years in many places. There are precedents for California reps not living in their districts - Garamendi, for one.

No, I'm not running for Congress. Happy 4/1!
But Jon Ossoff is on 4/18. Help him win at http://electjon.com . Let's flip Congress in '18

(5,730 posts)Certain celebrities and other people who are almost certain to win, should get homes and change their legal residence to districts we need... state and federal. Win.
Win. Win. Get rid of gerrymandering. Get the country back in shape. Then, promote other good people who can win fairly. Once yhe job is accomplished, the others can then go live wherever they want. It is a temporary time demand competing with their career, but it is a call to service for their country.
They are needed for their country NOW!
