The Justice Department went to Trump and warned him that Flynn was subject to blackmail by the Russians, according to reports. They may have said more. Trump sat on that information for almost 3 weeks without doing anything. Flynn continued to be present at high security events, he still had his job and was privy to state secrets....
Then someone went to the press and revealed that Flynn had been compromised through, minimally, lying about his contact with the Russians - but probably much more.
Then Flynn got fired, roughly within a day AFTER the press ran with the story.
When the President won't act to protect our nation sometimes someone else steps into the breech. That person is a hero, whether or not they "leaked" Flynn's classified identity by unmasking it in the intercepts.

(13,903 posts)that a leaker's criminal acts somehow means something more than it does.
I see the snowflakes commenting on other sites, like this somehow means that anything else said about Trump and the Russia connections is untrue or this will somehow magically make any crimes that Trump admin or campaign folks have committed go away.
I get the impression that this kind of wrong doing just lends itself to the baseless conspiracy theories. If there was a leaker well then there has to be a shadow gov't out to get poor Donnie.
By all means investigate the leakers if they broke the law, but you wouldn't want me on the jury.
I wouldn't vote guilty if what they leaked exposed a traitor to this country.
I don't know that I would vote guilty if what they exposed was just that Trump was an incompetent fool who was an unwitting stooge of Russia.

(5,269 posts)Sessions lied about not meeting with any Russians, Nunes lied pretending he had found out information from an outside source when it was from WH and got caught.
On one of the cable shows yesterday, the panel of journalists agreed that the number of whistleblowing leakers from the WH and other government agencies has been unprecedented in all of their careers covering DC politics.
