I was just going with the theme. More like watching a killer hurricane approach, you know there will be devastation, and some parts will be hurt far worse than others, but hope it diverts, knowing there's not much chance of that happening.

Can you imagine gathering that many people in one place? OTOH the behaviors of Hillary Clinton (and Al Gore before her) have been gracious and exemplary. Trump was bitching, whining and moaning about a "rigged" election many months before the actual vote... How did we get to this place in history?

why people didn't see him for the con man he is. I know well-educated people who would be horrified normally by a person who acts like trump, who calmly went to the voting booth and voted for the orange swamp creature. It's hard to imagine how they could be so gullible. I don't see how we got here and how we recover.

I guess this explains why an email from exiled Prince Hasseem asking for bank account numbers still works.

One of the characteristics of RW Authoritarian Followers is that they compartmentalize their thinking. So they can wall off the pussy grabbing from the "drain the swamp" and "build the wall". They are not troubled by cognitive dissonance and are especially skilled at rationalizing it away because of another characteristic:

They seek confirmation much more than progressives & liberals do. They don't reach out, they have less empathy, they live more in a bubble. They are the opposite of scientists, who seek contradictions to break their theories and cherish only the ones that survive many tests. RWAF find something that seems to confirm a belief or talking point and then stop looking without examining that piece of evidence much either.

21. Yup, I try to refer to him as the Minority President as much as possible. And re "rigged"
Sun Apr 2, 2017, 03:30 PM
Apr 2017

Re "rigged":   tRump is so stupid and reactive without much thinking ahead that he says whatever is on the top of his head. So, since his campaign was colluding with Russians (even tRump would have been vaguely aware of that), he talked about rigged elections.

Also, when tRump is in one of his more cogent phases, he likes to plant distractions and misdirections related to anticipated problems. So if he lost, he would not take any blame and would put it on other people and on "rigged" elections. If he won, he would eventually face investigations into his Russian connections, so he pre-distracts and misdirects by claiming the Democrats rigged the election by getting "millions" of illegals to vote.

But very much predominantly it is the first cause: "rigging" was in the back of his mind because that's what his campaign was doing.
