That is why it is important for the House Committee to continue. As it is right now, if the Senate Intel Committee shut down, it would close the door on all investigations, except the FBI, and they work at a much slower pace. That would be unfotunate.
John Cornyn is much like Devin Nunes. When push comes to shove and information becomes too hot to handle, he will choose Party over Country, in my opinion.

(24,259 posts)it's crucial that we continue to push hard to get a totally independent and non-partisan 'Special Prosecutor' to handle this whole mess.

(24,259 posts)is normal, expected and even a bit encouraged in our form of government but unfortunately the opposition that we used to be able to semi work, deal and live with has become an extremely endangered species as the RW extremists that we've increasingly seen building over the years have gone into hyper drive with Trump in the Oval Office.
It seems like we now may be way beyond the normal 'opposition' and that we've 'crossed the Rubicon' into a type of full blown 'war' for the 'soul' of America and it's not a 'war' that the middle class, poor, seniors, disabled, veterans, women, minorities, refugees or our planet can afford to lose.

(30 posts)Otherwise we will continue to have coverups in the guise of investigations. An independent commission might be even more effective than a special prosecutor. But, in the current political climate, we may have to depend on a continuous flow of leaks by concerned insiders. Eventually, the information from leaks could mushroom enough that even Congressional Republicans would have to do something serious.
We can't depend on James Comey because already showed his partisanship when he released irrelevant material about Hillary during the campaign. That indicates he may hold back important information about Trump and Company.

Senators mostly love themselves more than anything and I don't think the Cornyn is the kind that goes down with a sinking ship.
Besides which, he has very good grasp of law, unlike Nunes.
