Need to debunk RW talking point - Flynn immunity vs Clinton staff immunity

I've heard from a few RWers over the past week that it's no big deal about Flynn asking for immunity because several Clinton staffers also received immunity to testify. So, when I say, "well, the Clinton inquiry was a witch hunt with no crimes involved" the response is that the Flynn thing is as well.

Thanks

There are many good reasons an innocent person might seek immunity as a condition for testifying. So I think we should not claim Flynn seeking immunity means anything.

"When you are given immunity, that means you have probably committed a crime."

Who cares about Clinton or her staff? She's not POTUS nor is she advising the POTUS nor was she ever found to have acted as an unregistered foreign agent while receiving classified intelligence nor was she a stooge for Putin and Russia (an enemy of both the USA and Democracy).

Clinton was also not fired from the military apparatus for being unstable.

Proffer letter immunity - the Feds will give it depending on what they expect to find out via negotiations. It doesn't get you off scot-free because they might collect evidence that later will be used against you. If you change your tune in court after the negotiation then it can be used against you also.

Letter immunity - is just that the full agreement not to prosecute after testimony. This spells out the promises the FEDs made for the testimony you will give. Just because you get it doesn't mean they can't break it either if new evidence is discovered or you were hiding something that comes out later.

Statutory immunity - involves invoking your 5th amendment rights. A Judge can look at what you might say in a grand jury or at trial and say that if you take the 5th, the testimony would not be heard. They decide to order you to testify by saying the testimony can't be used against you.

Top Hillary Clinton aide Cheryl Mills received an immunity deal from the Justice Department in the FBI’s investigation into the former secretary of state’s private email server, records shown to Congress revealed Friday, re-injecting the email controversy into the presidential campaign just days before her first debate with Donald Trump.

and Flynn failed to disclose being agent for Turkey and his payments from Turkey and Russian entitities until he resigned from WH and the information was made public. He also he failed to disclose receipt of that foreign money to Dept of Defense that is supposed to be informed and approve any payments like that to newly retired Generals.
