Bernie Sanders and DNC chair Tom Perez to unite for cross-country tour

God bless DNC Chair Tom Perez and duly appointed Senate Democratic Leadership Memeber, Chaiman of Outreach, Bernard Sanders!!!!

Now that's some outreachin'!!!

I give 5 salutes!!!

Bernie Sanders and DNC chair Tom Perez to unite for cross-country tour

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/04/06/bernie-sanders-and-dnc-chair-tom-perez-to-unite-for-cross-country-tour/?utm_term=.54af116f556e

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will rally in at least five states later this month, just weeks after Perez defeated Sanders’s preferred candidate to run the DNC.

“We’ll be traveling — and Tom will be traveling with me — to traditionally conservative states,” Sanders said. “It’s absolutely absurd that the Democratic Party has turned its back on working people in literally half the country.”

“We’ve talked a lot about the need to compete everywhere, and when we talked about a 57-state-and-territory strategy, we meant it,” Perez said.

The duo will rally in Maine on April 17 and wind through the South and Southwest until April 22, hitting Kentucky, Florida, Arizona and Nevada. More stops, and more DNC investments, are possible in Nebraska — where Democrats hope to win back the mayoralty of Omaha — and in Montana, where a Sanders-backed House candidate has begun to attract attention ahead of a special election.

anyone who labels our Democratic Party "feeble", "can't fight back", and "Party of the elite"?

I guess he changed his mind.. or why would he be touring with the so-called "establishment Tom Perez".. that's just an insulting buzzword that means nothing

Love Tom Perez.. I knew he would be the BEST DNC chair and so did President Obama!

Good to see you! Our DNC Chair Tom Perez is the BEST! He has so much class.. his priority is bringing people together.. NOT insulting our Democratic Party or anyone except calling out the Fascistrumps.. It's Keith Ellison's priority, too.

Tom Perez is focused on what's really important: trump and his maladministration, not petty and divisive attacks on our Party.

In America, we don’t turn away those who need us. We don’t capitulate to dictators because it improves Trump’s relationship with Putin.
This x 1000!

Or 57-state-and-territory-strategy as Tom put it. Bernie's an old pro when it comes to taking it to the people - I wish more Dems would get out there and have events like this.

Bravo Bernie and Tom! Keep up the good work!

Tom immediately reached out and made Keith his deputy chair and now he's teaming up with Bernie. He's not wasting any time playing the blame game, instead he's focusing on what we did wrong and what we can do differently next time. It's stupid to keep the intraparty skirmishes going and to keep attacking people who are allies. Everyone needs to move on like Tom and Bernie.

I'm more optimistic than I have been in a long time.

Go Bernie and Tom! Get on board or get left behind!

It's almost as though they're unaware of the fact that we have more important things to worry about now.

This is Bernie and Tom. Bernie and Tom don't have time to obsess over words or who hurt whose fee fees. Bernie and Tom want to unite the party.

Be like Bernie and Tom.

I have not heard Perez much but have heard Bernie twice now and he kicks ass at a rally. I was not sure about Perez, he had a lot of good things going for him but he seems to be better than I thought he might be. Lot of time left to learn how he will do but this is an outstanding way to start the 50 state strategy. I had my first ever and only Democratic congressperson when Dean did the 50 state strategy but since then, she is gone and it has been a continuous line of Republicans. The party here in Kansas is changing, the guard is changing and the attitudes are changing. I am hoping our next election for Governor will have an actual out loud and proud Democrat. It is very true that they will vote for a real Democrat faster than they will vote for a Democrat who votes like a Republican. People here respond very well to Bernie. Bring it on, these 2 are doing the first steps to what needs to happen. I am thrilled, it has been a long time since I have been thrilled by the Democrats.

I have not heard or thought of that word in many years. That is exactly right. Perez sounds like the kind of guy who would be good at that and we all know Bernie has that down to a fine science. It has been so stodgy for so long, for the most part anyway, that the building of excitement during a time when many people have just been driven into depression will be not only open them to what they say but make them eager for what they say.

I meant it when I said on some thread, maybe it was this one last night but I did not read what I wrote before responding, that Bernie resonated strongly here in Kansas. Let Trump have his way and in 2 years when we really need help people will be leaping to the polls to vote for someone who will help them. Around here nobody ever knew who that was because nobody but Republicans ever did much and Dems would not go past the Eastern part of our state. (I believe it was a lot because of the money we do not have, the sparse population and partly because they just didn't) There are signs, maybe mostly in my own mind still, that even this state is changing in subtle but important ways.

Barnstorming may save this country! They need an upside down bi-plane to arrive in!

I am interested in electing people...I don't see getting really liberal candidates in conservative states...and if Bernie or anyone...not singling him out just picks a person who shares his views without taking into consideration...electability, then we may have lost an opportunity for a more moderate candidate who could win...I don't understand why Bernie isn't trying to help Jon and Perez too... he has support from Representative Cumming... unless they think it might hurt. I have sent money and am keeping my fingers crossed ...this would be a great pickup.

First, you generate local excitement and media coverage. People who get a lot of their information from Fox also get information from the local television and newspapers. Talk to local reporters without Fox getting in the way, and you convey a much different message to people in those areas.

Second, you get more control over your message.

Third, people fighting the good fight in those areas feel encouraged that the national leaders haven't forgotten about them. It's a shot in the arm for morale, and you might even activate some more volunteers and candidates.
