Russia story just keeps getting worse for President

Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-Large
Updated 1:16 PM ET, Wed April 12, 2017

Two stories dealing with Russia's meddling in the election broke Tuesday night ...

The first, an exclusive to CNN, revealed that a number of Democratic and Republican lawmakers on the House and Senate intelligence committees who have seen classified documents see no evidence that Obama administration officials did anything unusual or illegal, further suggesting Rep. Devin Nunes, R-California, misled Trump (and the public) when he described documents relating to the unmasking of Trump campaign officials caught up in an incidental collection operation by the intelligence community ...

The second, broken by The Washington Post, reveals that the FBI obtained a secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court court warrant in August 2016 aimed at monitoring the communications of one-time Trump foreign policy adviser Carter Page ...

... we have FBI Director James Comey, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, the heads of both the House and Senate intelligence committees -- both Republicans -- and lots and lots of other prominent voices within the intelligence community insisting the Russian investigation is entirely justified and that no evidence exists for Trump's claims ...

To this point, the Russian investigation is partially clandestine, partially leaked.

So few members of the media are adequately covering the investigation, leaving us with a mere handful of trustworthy sources to innervate the American people.

Yes, Rachel's ratings are way up, but let's face it....turning Congress on one of its own (or many of its own) is a dubious prospect in these days of bipolar democracy. It would take an enormous bipartisan groundswell and public outcry to pry Congress loose from blind partisanship. Is that going to happen?

The IC seems relentless in its desire to inform the general public of the sinister state of affairs that is the Republican Party and its fuckless leader, DJT, and all of his elitist privileged cohorts. If Americans pay their warning no heed, then we deserve what we get.

Damn the Deplorables.

The big question I keep asking myself is when are the subpoenas, indictments, impeachments coming? When are we going to get rid of all of this nightmare.

The Trump clan is using the same tactics that other regimes have used in the past:
1. Keep people angry by taking their rights/benefits away while no one interferes to stop them on their tracks...and don't think they are going to stop trying to repeal Obamacare, they will.
2. Keep them confused
3. Do stupid stuff continuously to keep everyone distracted and thinking that they are going to fall any time soon due to their stupidity, but it is all a show. While people are looking, discussing the latest gaff they do their dirty work somewhere else.
4. Place your family and friends in power positions, no matter how incompetent for the job they may be, but loyalty comes first.
5. Get rid of all those who oppose your agenda.
6. and more...

The worst thing is that I see happening here what has happened in other places with dire results, people angry, but the regime continues with their agenda, and the populace will continue to vote against their best interest just like it happened in Kansas...I mean, Kansas, how much more punishment do these people want? and they keep voting for republicans?

Until stupidity is vanished, nothing will change.

is grade A stellar work during the election proves he isn't trustworthy or competent to oversee anything.

Nunes tampered with evidence by racing off to the WH to show little DonnieRhea the info that was breaking, before he informed his counterpart and the rest of the committee.

We have known, well before the election, that there was wide spread damage and manipulation from the Soviets/Russians. If we can figure out that they manipulated our election but can't make the case these guys are pretty fucking pathetic excuses for investigators.

Tampering in a national election by an outside force wouldn't be a "yyyyyyyyyyyyawn, in other news . . . " dismissal in other Democratic industrialized nations. And, not intent on belaboring the "IOKIYAR" point, but if this were Obama . . . .

I see similar ones for other offenses. Nothing seems to work. Is there really any hope?

How much of this country will he destroy before he is stopped? And who can stop him?

What does he really have to do to get people who CAN do something to do something?

Frankly, a lot of people in Washington would lobby for Jeffrey Dahmer if his check cleared.

But Trump is acting guilty on this, so there must be something there.

I'm not sure why they are stringing this out other than to give Trump a chance to fall in line with the Washington consensus on foreign policy, in which case he will suddenly be treated as a respected statesmen.

I hope that isn't what's going on, but absent a public dump of more damning stuff, it sure looks like it.
