State Park Tourists shocked to see Wild Horse Attack Alligator to defend herd, with video.

Published on Apr 13, 2017

Micanopy, Florida – Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park visitors were shocked to see a wild horse attack an alligator. The alligator, which appeared to be napping in the sun, was laying across the trail away from the small herd of horses.

The horse, presumably defending its herd, approached the alligator from the rear, before charging and striking. The horse turned and went back for a second attack, but the alligator snapped at its legs and flipped a circle trying to defend itself. “Just leave him alone,” a female can be heard saying on the video. The horse trotted back to its herd while the alligator headed for cover on the other side of the road. Neither animal appeared to have suffered injury during the brief encounter.
