We dropped a big bomb. Jeez. We have big bombs.

I don't want to hear any more TV talking heads say this is breaking news. The explosion is over. It's not July 4th.

Here is another example of Trump changing the dialogue.
Our election was subverted by Russia. That should be the breaking news until this is resolved. This "Trump is tough" bullshit is all the message is about. Russia is supposed to have a bomb that is 4 times more powerful than the one dropped in Afghanistan. Russia compromised our election process.

Another shiny object. I get it. It's large. First time used. End of story. Now. Back to collusion and possible treason.

From a description of the weapon, it sounds like Trump is the first President, since Harry Truman, to authorize the use of a weapon of mass destruction.

Dropping one 22,000lbs conventional bomb not much different then dropping 22- 1,000lbs bombs or 44-500lbs bombs.

9. Well, if you drop "chemical, biological or radioactive"

you get "a weapon capable of causing widespread death and destruction".

Another post states that it will cause death and destruction for up to a radius of 1 mile (ok, let's keep it simple).

So, geometry people, that's roughly a circle of radius one mile. And pi hasn't changed much lately. So, we're looking at death and destruction in roughly a circle of area 3.14 miles. Very conservative estimate.

If a fire broke out in a city and a circle of area of 3 miles was burning, we wouldn't consider that as widespread.

I'll sleep easier tonight.

We were dropping 11 ton bombs in WWII. The BLU-82s we dropped in Vietnam and Iraq are not far behind in destructive potential.

(with apologies to AC/DC, sing along if you know the tune, in Trump's voice if you can pull it off)
I'm upper, upper class society
God's gift to bombing notoriety
And I always fill my war room
The event is never small
All the social papers say I've got the biggest bombs of all

I've got big bombs
I've got big bombs
And they're such big bombs
Dirty big bombs
And he's got big bombs,
And she's got big bombs,
But we've got the biggest bombs of them all!

And my bombs are always falling
My war room always full
And everybody comes and comes again
If your name is on the guest list
No one can take you higher
Everybody says I've got great bombs with fire!

I've got big bombs
I've got big bombs
And they're such big bombs
Dirty big bombs
And he's got big bombs,
And she's got big bombs,
But we've got the biggest bombs of them all!

Some bombs are dropped for "humanitarian purposes"
And some…

Bush used it once in Afghanistan and Obama used it once on an open target. I thinks it gets bigger every few years, so when used, it will always be the biggest conventional bomb ever used.

Interesting, though, indications are that it may have been deployed to Afghanistan during Obama's administration.

The MOAB has been an option for use in an attack on ISIS for some time and was moved to Afghanistan months ago in anticipation of this operation, the official said. The strike was announced because it was the first time the MOAB was used in combat and the size of the blast was certain to raise questions among locals, the official said.
