followed those missiles from Russia to Cuba and then moved his whole family to Key West for the "events" that followed. I'll never forget it or the things I witnessed during that time, I was a kid but I was seriously impacted by that few months and long afterward... not all of it bad but certainly an awakening about the world took place in my young mind.

I wonder if all this current crap isn't coordinated bluster to deflect from the big bust that's coming down the pike real soon.

military kid, I was exposed to all kinds of political banter between my parents so I had nightmares of bombings... of course having a just slightly older brother who seemed obsessed with all things military probably helped embellish my fears to some degree. But I also recall my mother being severely pissed at my dad for dragging us there, including two ifants in diapers, only to put us within direct impact of these weapons and living in squalor while there. She sold all the furniture and appliances she had to pay for us to move back to New England. They didn't stay together too much longer but a third child came along before they broke apart like a nuclear weapon.

The 60s were a really rough time for our country.

the lake from Boeing Field. We all knew we were living in a primary target area. Boeing used to take off new planes in the middle of the night - low flying over the house. During that time I woke up to the loud aircraft thinking this was it - we were at war.
Have had "end of the world" dreams ever since.

My parents took us to my grandparent farm for that long weekend.
We took all food and parents bought more.
We took all clothes we could.
It was a full car.
I remember flying a kite in the hay meadow.
We were kept busy doing farm work.
We did not watch tv.
I know my parents were worried.

us our whole lives in one way or another, don't you? Kids then knew their parents and teachers were putting on a front, so the kids talked among themselves about what they knew about nuclear devastation.

I do not think they slept much.

We had President Kennedy not President Crazy.

It was really quiet time.

Okay place to play dungeon, but I would have rather had a pool. (And to have lived without the worry that we were going to be nuked at any moment.)

What good would the former do? You would be trampled to death long before you ever got into a subway tunnel. As my Dad used to say, "Make your peace with God, and forget everything else". True.

Trump is of this age himself and lived in NYC. He never heard this as a kid?
