White House communications director Michael Dubke on Friday confirmed suspicions the Trump Administration will not disclose visitor logs of people visiting the complex, Time reports.
The decision reverses an Obama-era policy that disclosed more than 6 million records, Zeke Miller reports. According to Dubke, the decision is based off the grave national security risks and privacy concerns of the hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Dubke also said most of the logs will not be subject to Freedom of Information Act requests.
Following a pattern of Trump doing things he used to criticize Obama for, tweets unearthed Friday showed the move is not only a reversal from the prior administration, but from his own prior stance on the matter.

Democrats introduced the Making Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act (MAR-A-LAGO Act) last month to require the president disclose visitors at places where he regularly conducts official business. Fridays news renewed calls for Congress to pass that bill.

(13,305 posts)Can we please do away with this line of thinking and this obsession with catching him and his supporters in "gotcha!" moments of hypocrisy?
News flash: they don't care. Nothing is coming back to haunt him because he doesn't care and neither do his supporters. It was never about supporting any particular position or policy or anything of the sort, and us spending all of this time fixated on what he's doing and saying now that contradicts something he did or said before accomplishes nothing.
He has barely 40% approval, and that 40% will follow him anywhere as long as he keeps pissing off liberals and Democrats and whatever else. As long as he keeps throwing them red meat like he's been doing they could not possibly care any less about his hypocrisy or contradictions or whatever else.
I guess I get it if the goal is to keep that other 60% from getting into the "approve" column but really we should be more focused on who we are running for and who we will be supporting for every available and open seat in every office throughout the country.
