No Trump Bump- Stuck at 39% Approval

The president’s overall job approval rating stands at 39% among registered voters, little changed from when Marist last reported it just one week prior to the U.S. air strikes in Syria. While the president’s negatives in areas such as his image, how he has been handling foreign policy, and whether or not he is improving the U.S. position on the world stage have declined, his scores on each of these questions remain upside down. A slim majority of Americans also do not have confidence in the president to keep the nation safe, and there is a lack of trust in the president, when faced with an international crisis, to weigh all the options before taking action, come up with a sound strategy, work well with allies, or make the right decisions. A majority of Americans still do not think the president is a good leader for the nation.

I would be inclined to give a president the benefit of the doubt when using force but not this one. I can't help but believe he ordered the strike to change the subject from his Russian collusion. Apparently many Americans agree with me.

1. Gallup has him at 40% (no bump). I think his attacks on Syria, the "ISIS" bunker, and

deliberate saber-rattling against North Korea are very scary.

5. Rasmussen is a right-wing pollster

So I'd imagine they over-sample conservatives. I doubt it's THAT high, but I'd bet it's somewhere in the low 40's. You'd be surprised how many people don't really care about him being President and can be swayed by bombing and positive media coverage. They're not hardcore supporters of his and may not have even voted for him...but they just don't care and are in the "give him a chance" crowd.

8. I don't trust the Rasmussen poll. Marist and Gallup are very close and Rasmussen is notorious

for heavy pro-repub bias. And there's no way in hell Trump jumped 9-10 points over the bombing in Syria. No way in hell.
