He was telling me about the evils of socialism and how bad the health system in Canada is, people dead from waiting and everyone coming to the U.S. for health care. I told him that was bull.

A guy comes in at that time from Canada. Very wealthy type person. Had a quarter million dollar antique car in his trailer. So, with the kid standing there, I asked him how he liked their health system and would he rather have ours. No way he said, our health system is great and almost everyone there loves it.

Kid hung his head and didn't say another word. I just said you have to ask people that live there what they think. Don't count on what you hear on FAUX news.

If the guy did not get the idea that universal health-care is anti-Christian from his church, then from where do you suppose he is getting his religious instruction? I kinda thought most religious people learned their religion from their religious institutes.

you dont have to use the word 'all' to mean all. suppose you saw a commercial that said come to chow-hound's country kitchen and get a free steak. now it didnt say all or everyone but my guess is that you'd think all who went there would get a steak.no qualifiers
as for u.h.c. being anti-Christian you can hear that on any right-wing talk radio or fox new it doesnt have to come from church

If that broadbrush doesn't include you then don't take it on as if it were aimed at you too. You know darn well what the OP meant. I know some (very few) really great Christians, in every sense of the meaning of that word. They don't brag or insist on shoving religion down anyone's throat or stand on a box demanding recognition for the good things they do. On the other hand most of the rest I've ever met are self-righteous, hypocritical idiots.

God this petty self-ego-me crap gets old.

There are very, very, VERY few churches that actually practice the words of Jesus Christ. The vast majority of "Christians" I have known in my five decades on this earth have been selfish, mean, greedy, judgmental, and cruel. And I've known thousands of them.

I can't understand it. Just can't! You'd think people calling themselves Christian would be militant about making sure all the needy in our country are taken care of. The whole "am I my brother's keeper?" thing - you'd think they'd all take it to heart. Wasn't that the mission we were all given? To love our neighbors as ourselves? One of the mere two basic commandments given by Jesus? To care for the least of His brethren? Aren't we supposed to be about that, if we call ourselves Christian? I honestly don't know what kind of "Savior" they're following sometimes. It isn't the Jesus I recognize from what the nuns taught us.

Really disappointing. I am so disappointed in my fellow man sometimes. What the HELL are they thinking (besides ME ME ME, and Screw You, all the time, that is)???

Just realized something - the first half of "mean" is ME. Most instructive.

I'm a Christian and I quit going to church because even the ones who don't believe all the right wing crap don't have the guts to stand up and challenge it. The church in the U.S. in particular is an abomination. I've walked out of more churches than I can count and I've challenged them on their beliefs but I'm one of the few in this area who will.

that this universal health care is something to fight to KEEP.

Many people were not crazy to get this when it started in the sixties, now we all love it.

It is a great load off our minds to go to doctors and hospitals for treatments and not worry about medical bills. And we go when we are first starting to see symptoms, which keeps the costs down and helps us live longer.

I noticed that Rommey is going to Israel this summer. Israel has health care too. Everyone MUST have it. see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Israel

I think Jesus would like the new health care bill, but would probably say "you could do better".

As a Christian, I've been extremely disturbed by the individualistic, me-first, hateful attitude of many who claim to be "Christians" regarding not just the ACA but ANY kind of health care assistance. It's simply never made any sense to me at all. I like to ask them where it says that Jesus asked for an insurance card or money before healing people, they never have a good answer because there isn't one.

I think I'm just gonna boil it down to that final question the Australian asked: "How do you go to church on Sundays and maintain this shit attitude toward those less fortunate?" Yep, that about says it all!!

"Your fundamental ethics and your obligation to your fellow man."

That is fundamentally the problem: RWers don't have true ethics and don't really feel an obligation to their fellow man. It's all about them...everyone should just fend for themselves. It's all that Ayn Rand horseshit they like to espouse.

Funny thing is that when things go wrong, RWers are the first ones in line for all that socialized government assistance.
