It's just the Russians trying to keep us at each other's throats. And it's working. Don't open posts that are clearly still stuck in the Hillary vs Bernie infinite time loop.

(32,900 posts)Unlike the other side we have a collection of people with vastly different thoughts, feelings and ideas working together towards livable compromise on everything. Sometimes it's hard to get everybody going in the right direction. Especially right now after as we watch the country plunge headlong into insanity with virtually no power to stop it,

(7,434 posts)We just can't get our heads around the reality that Russia has saturated our political landscape. The Sanders/Clinton nonsense is driven by Putin. Anyone who can read is able to determine that, but there seems to be an awkward denial of Russian influence. The same can be said for the French election. The French MUST know that Putin backs Le Pen for Russia's self-interests. Yet the raised Le Pen to super-star status anyway.

(34,122 posts)I am almost done here. For long periods of time I could come in and read at least the "Latest Page" and not see too many replies so I could at least read the topic. Then the popular threads started popping up frequently so I stopped looking at them because I knew they would just be crap fighting and nothing of any value. I used Ignore generously during the primaries, never had to do that before this year. Now for the first time today I am going to start trashing threads for the first time.
This site used to include lots of very intelligent discussion. Now it is just hyper personal, rock star love fighting. I was a Bernie supporter, 100% behind him even though he had a few issues I did not agree with. The other day I posted that although I have confidence he supports women and would never vote to take our rights away I was angry with him for his support in Nebraska. You would have thought I was a Bernie hater from day one. Nothing I said about understanding the issue but still wanting an explanation because I was angry brought discussion. Stating again that and stating I still supported him was not enough. I was challenged to provide links about feelings? Aside comments about how people never stop with the Bernie hate just made me realize that some people here do not even read before they start to jump on you.
Fight club was never my desire here. My way or you suck was never my desire here. I came to read and learn, to hear different view points so I could consider and grow. We used to do that but that is so long gone and so bad now that I just have no desire to even come look at anything anymore except a few groups I am interested in. When it devolves into "I fell in love with xxxxxxx" or "I HATE xxxxx" we have lost it all.
It was a good place for a long time, too bad to lose it. I will likely continue for a while but not very actively. I read the Latest today and about half way through I was so bored with the crap that when I saw this thread I felt like adding my opinion. Not that that ever matters except to those who choose to continue the fighting.

(28,811 posts)I read your entire post. I could have written it. I can't quit DU but it's not the same. it's really not the same. too much bullshit and i think it's trolls, but the trolls are being fed by DUers who are not trolls, but for some reason do not seem to be grasping what is actually relevant right now (that our government has been hijacked, our democracy is in peril, and we need to work and work hard on getting trump and the republicans GONE in time to save it). instead they get pissed at democrats or Bernie, who caucuses with the democrats and is more liberal than most democrats and has been begging his base to vote democratic since the day his candidacy became mathematically non-viable. That was the day i switched my support to Hillary, and that was an education. The bad rap Hillary has gotten through the decades is stunning, really.
this is not limited to DU. I can't watch Young Turks any more pretty much, and it's basically the same thing.
When trump used the MOAB it was hours before i learned about it, and it wasn't on DU. Time was i had all the relevant news first just from hopping on this page a few times a day. no more.

But you are sounding a lot like CNN in regards to the "scientific debate" on climate change, acting like there are similar numbers of scientists arguing for "each side" There are very very few anti Hillary threads on DU, at least since the 2016 Election review forum closed. There are very very many anti-Bernie threads being posted here daily however.
If a book like "Shattered" came out about Bernie's campaign there would be 8 OP's talking about it with over 200 posts per and over 80 recs each. Bernie people for the most part have just let it be (unless Bernie gets repeatedly attacked). The few threads there are about "Shattered" aren't burning up this place.

boston bean
(36,223 posts)There is a concerted effort to make choice... well... not so important in order to win votes of religious evangelicals, or misogynist men who might be open to an economic message.
That cannot happen.
If Dems concede on this, we will have dem politicians who let choice slide... it is extremely important. It is not like one man would like one to believe that more dems will keep choice safe. Because the candidates they run don't support choice. We will have a party that doesn't care anymore about the issue.
