It's been a bit since I've made a rambling post, but now is a a good a time as any. Over the course of the last few weeks I've been asked to serve on DU a Jury nearly every day. Sometimes multiple times over the course of a day. I don't know what is involved with the hat the random choices are made from or how often other folks are pooled but compared to just a month ago it's like night and day. Each of the juries I've served on is a thread dealing with the direction of the Democratic party.
I know we don't all agree with the exact future of the party but we can all agree that we are trying to overcome a collection of people that are uniformly alright with voting against their own self interests. Judging from voter turnout and poll numbers. We're looking at 40-45%(guesstimate) of the normal voting public that is in complete voting lockstep with people that are straight up and down evil sons of bitches. People that don't give a good Jiminy Cricket if we all curl up and blow away like the insect husks we are to them; that includes the people they continue to dupe into voting for them.
I don't know all of the intricacies of why folks are backing one person over another and won't pretend I do. What i do know is that if we keep carrying on with purity tests and such it's only going to lead back around to another round of fractured/tacit voting and the ability of said sons of bitches remaining in power long enough to either drag us into a full scale war either physical, virtual, shooting or economic. It will be something and and it will happen and because these people are terrifyingly bereft of anything remotely like a moral compass they'll tell us they had to do it.... to keep us safe.
We don't have anybody that is 100% anything to everybody but for the moment we've got to line up together, even if it's just a unruly gaggle of folks we need to do it. This includes the folks we want to lead us as well. However, if they don't then we are going to need to push from behind. It's possible, we can do it, but only if we're all pushing together.
In short we've got to stop griping at each other because it's starting to get out of hand.
Alllllright, I've rambled enough.

(7,639 posts)I've seen many, many threads on this topic over the last week and seen several OP's trashed by admin or juries. Right now's it's the reproductive rights of women that's the line in the sand.
Personally, I've never heard a Dem politician be anything but pro-choice regardless of their personal beliefs on abortion. Which, I believe is about all one can ask of anyone concerning this fundamental right. We seem to be splitting hairs here lately over who is more of a feminist while the other side is perfectly willing to deny women that right and happy to stir shit between us Dems whenever possible.
At some point people will get sick of this division and not play anymore, but who knows when that will be.
I don't put people on ignore or trash threads myself because I want to hear what everybody has to say.
Because you just never know where a good idea may come from or lead to.
