Mnuchin confirmed today that Trump has no intention to release his tax returns, which is another Trump lie to add to the list. How do we know if he's going to give himself and his rich friends a tax break if we don't what's in his tax returns? This administration is just full of conflicts of interest, and it's disgusting. I can't believe this is happening.
Congress needs to invoke the law from 1924 to be able to see his tax returns. I think part of the issue is also due to Trump's hubris and vanity. He obviously doesn't want the world to see that he's actually not worth as much as he says he is.

(54,446 posts)Probably the last fully truthful statement he has made to anyone's recollection.
But if he can do that, he can certainly ask a Republican-dominated Congress to pass tax cuts that will benefit him and people like him. And you know what the worst part is? People who are scraping by, and will STILL be scraping by afterward, will applaud and cheer him on, and really think that their share is JUST around the corner, if only the libbruls would let it happen.

I honestly believe that if Trump wanted to skim 1% off the top of all the income tax paid for his personal pocket, Congress would approve it.

(More accurately, his family will benefit from the latter.)
Of the Federal taxes he paid for 2005, 85.5% were due to the Alternative Minimum Tax.
Without the ATM he would have paid $5.3 million in taxes - instead of the $36.6 million he ended up owing.
