Despite Trump calling it a terrible deal thousands of times, the Iran deal is more popular

than ever. I guess that means that Trump attacking things might actually make people reconsider in its favor! More likely, the fact that Iran, as bad as it is, has not violated the terms and is not getting a nuclear weapon. https://morningconsult.com/2017/04/26/iran-deal-popular-ever-poll-shows/

I suspect that the longer it holds, the more obvious that it likely avoided a war as the negotiators thought. The description by Wendy Sherman of how Kerry actually choked up when each country's fm said what it meant to them - he referenced how after Vietnam, he had hoped that he could be part of preventing war.

Given the rhetoric, I think they did just that.

Yes, I think you are right that this deal avoided a war.

I don't think the deal maker in chief (or his advisors/functionaries) has the tiniest bit of a clue of how diplomacy works. It is frightening how they are doing "their thing" with North Korea. I call it "their thing" because I sure can't call it diplomacy.
