My first experience with discussion boards was after my son was born, 14 years ago.

A parenting site with all the drama of a junior high school yard, with the added intensity of the anxieties of parenthood.

Camps of breast vs. bottle feeders, cloth vs. disposables, co-sleepers vs. sleep alones....

And every couple weeks or so, a dramatic exit. (Often followed a week or so later by a "New Member" with many of the same issues as one of the dearly departed ones.)

Have to admit, it was fun, and most of my social life for most of a year. But what a trip.
