If campaigns were publicly financed, the Koch brothers power and all the other legal bribery would vanish.
There's an immense common ground between left, right and center Americans who know our system is corrupt. There's never been more at stake and I pray to all above that we can put our differences aside and support Common Cause.

There's a signup to support stopping trump's conflicts of interest, and a Sessions watch as well as other resources to make change.
There's a Common Cause Hawaii, too, and there's on in your state as well.
I'm sure they could use some help, as there's nobody else I know of working to rid us of this broken system.
HOPE. Resist!

(11,094 posts)Public financing of campaigns should be our goal. Politicians spend so much time raising money, time they could use actually doing the people's business.

(9,426 posts)they prefer raising money. It connects them to wealthy donors. How do you suppose they ALL end up millionaires on their salary? I would say that is the driving factor for most politicians. The honest ones get tossed aside, do not get on Sunday TV shows. It is the greedy, money grubbers who are invited week after week to air their views.

(3,040 posts)Congress will never vote to get money out of politics -- it would be voting against their own self interests. There is some hope that individual states, on their own, could vote to get money out of politics, but that is just like putting a bandaid over a gun shot wound. As I see it, the only sure way to get money out of politics is a constitutional amendment.
