Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein threatens to resign over White House lies.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/how-trumps-anger-and-impatience-prompted-him-to-fire-the-fbi-director/2017/05/10/d9642334-359c-11e7-b373-418f6849a004_story.html?utm_term=.301762c016e9

Rosenstein threatened to resign after the narrative emerging from the White House on Tuesday evening cast him as a prime mover of the decision to fire Comey and that the president acted only on his recommendation, said the person close to the White House, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Rosenstein threatened to resign after the narrative emerging from the White House on Tuesday evening cast him as a prime mover of the decision to fire Comey and that the president acted only on his recommendation, said the person close to the White House, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

. . .

Spicer, meanwhile, threw together an impromptu news conference with reporters in the White House driveway, a few minutes before he taped a series of short television interviews inside the West Wing, where the lighting was better for the cameras. The press secretary stood alongside tall hedges in near darkness and agreed to answer questions with the cameras shuttered.

“Just turn the lights off,” Spicer ordered. “Turn the lights off. We’ll take care of this.”

"Person close to the White House" = I am guessing that is either Gingrich or Rudy

The wheels on the clown car have come off. BTW this excellent WP story generated almost 6,000 comments in a couple of hours.

He did so willingly.

They literally copied and pasted parts of that letter from the Internet, that's been proven. And thy forced him to sign it somehow. Heck, they may have signed it for him.

If he had an integrity he would quit and go public with this nonsense.

Asked to write up a negative narrative about Comey, then had it used by Trump/Spicer as the basis for the firing. I think he's going to come out on the right side of this.

Tell them Sessions lied under oath and should himself resign. Demand a bi-partisan independent investigation that is not under the DOJ.

At least we can kick and scream. And since you can't get through to the WH comment line---try this: 202-353-1555

just like the rest of the dumpsters--they thought they could fire Comey and Dems would nod in agreement.

Now that there's a lot of blowback, he's whining because it makes him look like a tool, which is what he is.

Donald Trump Was Wrong to Fire James Comey
by David French May 10, 2017

By firing the FBI director, President Trump made the decisive case for a truly independent investigation.
…snip
Amidst all the outrage and fury, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we still don’t have a single credible report of collusion between Trump-campaign officials and Russian intelligence. At the same time, we still don’t know the full story of Russian efforts to disrupt our presidential election. The crisis we face isn’t “constitutional,” it’s a crisis of confidence in our public institutions. In an atmosphere of mistrust, conspiracy theories proliferate. By firing James Comey, Trump made the decisive case for a truly independent investigation.

May it commence with all deliberate speed.
