the term "weblog" dates to 1997 as does "blog"; The Daily Howler started in 1998. And if it's not the first it's one of the first, in the sense of regularly updated blogs with a particular focus.

I can't think of a specific name at the moment, but I got them along with the "Top 5" list about 20 years ago.
