Who was it again she "drunk dialed" last time? Oh yeah, Anita Hill. And wasn't it like, years after the whole confirmation happened?

Per the New York Times:

In a voice mail message left at 7:31 a.m. on Oct. 9, a Saturday, Virginia Thomas asked her husband’s former aide-turned-adversary to make amends. Ms. Hill played the recording, from her voice mail at Brandeis University, for The New York Times.

“Good morning Anita Hill, it’s Ginni Thomas,” it said. “I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband.”

Ms. Thomas went on: “So give it some thought. And certainly pray about this and hope that one day you will help us understand why you did what you did. O.K., have a good day.”

and it has shaped his and Ginny's relationship for all of these years.
When I was a heavy drinker, it was to ease pain and allow "truth" to bubble up for a few hours,
in order to keep from going stark-raving mad...

Ginny's truth is that deep down she believes Ms. Hill.

Just one woman's opinion.

I'd still stick with my hypothesis. Being or acting as a dry drunk can be just
as damaging/dangerous to self and others around you. Seriously.

If none of the above, then maybe Ginny is just a nut. Probably the
simplest explanation...

So, she makes a crazy phone call to Anita Hill asking professor Hill to apologize to her husband Clarence.

With the furor over the call, she steps down obscuring any story about that "donation" being a bribe.

Not to worry, she immediately starts another "lobbying firm" with a similar name (Liberty somthing) and a very nice, large, compensation package to be sure so then the corporation can remain, ahem, non-profit.

All made possible due to the Citizen's United decision made by her husband. It's nice when one's wife can bring in big money when you're in a dead end government position.

I'd like to think it was a drunkdial situation, but this sounded much more disturbing than that.

You DON'T call people at 7:30 AM on Saturdays unless you've either made plans to go skiing or there has been death in the family.

I thought I heard it on some news program, but I just Googled it and came up with nothing but re-enactments. Maybe that's what I heard. Either way, no one suggested at the time that she did it because she was drunk. Most pointed to the fact that a story was just published in the NY Times about Ginny Thomas' Tea Party involvement and the potential conflicts of interest that posed. They figured that sent her over the edge, that and it being the anniversary of Hill's testimony against Thomas, which Virginia attended in person.

And you're right about not calling anyone on a Saturday morning!

the Thomases take time to absorb information. Clarence takes more time. He hasn't fully grasped the New Deal yet.
