My premiums are VERY high. New Jersey also has some of the most expensive health insurance in the nation and we are not allowed to form or join groups. The only groups allowed are employers. The self employed are shit out of luck.

I don't even have very good coverage and my deductibles are high. I was hoping for the exchange but because of that blood sucker Christie I will have to wait a few more years.

I'm not saying the insurance is great but they are the National Association for the Self Employed and offer private policies that are a little more affordable. We've had a family policy with them for years. Our agent said that with a pre-existing condition he signs up the family and then after 6 months adds the person (with the pre-existing condition) to the policy. I haven't tested his words but it might be worth a try.

PM me if you want details. I wish you all the luck in the world. You certainly deserve it.

Unless, it was paid directly from the business and then the employee keeps the rebate. That would be taxable income. It all depends on who paid the premiums and how much was the business and how much by the covered person.

If it was me as the owner of the business I would put it back into the business. And put it to productive use so it helps the business and and is wrote off as a tax write off.

then it would be taxable income in year two. If you never deducted it, it wouldn't be taxable at all.

If the rebate is available to you in the form of a check (even if you take it as a premium credit), it would be taxable.

That being said, it really wouldn't effect business returns if used as a credit. But for personal returns it could have an impact if you take a medical deduction in year 1 and cannot in year 2.

Looks like small companies and self-purchasers are at anything over 80%.

Large companies are at 85%, but I can't find any specifics on it, like if the company gets a check, or employees directly, or what happens with all of the people who were on expensive COBRA last year whose companies didn't pay anything against the premium (like employees would see).

in the mail last month for $225.00. It will be a credit for next month’s premium which is $250.00 dollars. It stated it was because of the ACA, (Obama Care) which I knew was coming, I just didn’t know when.

Am sure more will be in the mail now that the court has passed it magic wand over it. I can’t for the life of me see why people (the general public) vote against their own best interest in cases like this.
