80 percent of Republicans approve of the job Trump is doing

Let that sink in.

Despite his low overall approval ratings (42 percent in the most recent poll) - his approval rating is still sky high among Republicans.

That's why I think he will survive this and any other scandal.

He is a white male billionaire. He can do anything he wants and he will be supported by republicans. It boils down to racism, misogyny, and classism. IMO All I can think of is Pres. Obama or SOS Clinton had done 1/10 of what Trump has done in his first 100 days in office, they would have been lynched.

He survived and won (re-)election despite 9/11 and his bungled handling of terrorism prior to it, invading Iraq only to find no WMD, Gitmo, and, of course, sanctioning torture. I have no idea what Trump will need to do to get Republicans to massively turn on him. Since that seems to be the case, we need to combat Republican obstructionism by removing the obstruction, which is to say that we need to remove as many Republican enablers from office as soon as we can.

The average Republican right now, in my experience, is appallingly ignorant. They literally know almost nothing about the world. And I'm not talking about low-income people. The Republicans I know have college degrees or more and relatively high incomes. They are incredibly self-centered, filled with resentments and biases. Their life experience is stunted.

They want tax breaks. They want "illegals" deported (even though their businesses depend on immigrant labor - they never think anything applies to them.) They assume their Medicare and SS are safe, but they "don't want to pay" for anybody else's coverage.

They're the people who call town hall five times to report a pot hole but they don't want to pay a dime toward the public good.

Comparing 2018 to 2006 is about as helpful as comparing 2006 to 1840, and this time Putin's got the GOP's back.

The only reasonable course is to assume that Repubs will still every vote they can through whatever means they can arrange, and we must act accordingly.

....it doesn't matter what facts are. It doesn't matter who actually controls congress. None of it matters. The only thing matters is what these fools "believe" and "feel". And in their eyes and in their warped minds no matter what bad happens to them or to the country it is always the fault of someone else. And the catch all for that is Democrats.

I agree every single Dem needs to be on record against all of this stuff. But that won't matter in the minds and hearts of the people that this will hurt the most.

And you have to realize that people who identify as Republicans is not that large. Trump won by getting Independents to vote for him.

He committed a felony, the Republicans in Congress will be sure of that soon and will have no choice but to impeach him. FOX News will have no choice but to start partially covering reality soon, that's when his support will plunge even among the zombies.

And it's going to be an violent fall from grace for him. He'll be a pariah even to Republicans by mid Summer. Maybe Trump can bring the country together against him, at least that would be good.

AFAIK he isn't doing anything any different than Obama and has accomplished nothing more than setting up tasks forces and empty edicts. No new foreign policy, he doesn't even understand healthcare much less have a new policy for that, the Congress is doing the heavy lifting there, though he has hung Trumpcare around the GoP's neck, and even his lauded Gorsuch appointment is the work of McConnell's thievery not anything Trump has done.

Riding on O's coat tails.
