He needs to feel the love, get his fix of reassurance that he's still the most popular leader in American history...and so there will be pics of audiences applauding him and lovin' on him.

All PR, and sadly, to shore up his own ego.

yeah, there's pr, of course foxnews will do their thing, as will the msm.

but most presidents go out and make speeches for specific strategic reasons, e.g., to increase pressure on legislators to support a bill, they'll give a speech in those congresscritters' districts/states.

there doesn't seem to be much of that kind of thinking behind his speeches. he just goes for the safe crowds, maybe generally to try to boost his own approval numbers.

4. He also gets to enjoy the trappings of the office.

The pomp and circumstance, flags waving, bands playing, people saluting you and literally rolling out the red carpet. He can look out upon this, survey his domain and delude himself a little longer that all is well in the kingdom. Only problem for tRump is it is all an illusion. At some point it won't be safe to venture out beyond the White House because the protests and signs of unrest will dog his tracks, but for now....it is about all that is left to him. The rest of it is in ashes and all of it courtesy of him and his personality disorder. He still doesn't get it and probably never will. In the meantime....let the band play on.
