Why does a major con-artist have to get elected PRESIDENT before he gets prosecuted?

I've sensed from the first time I heard or saw trump on TV that he was a con-man. So he has been sued in court hundreds of times, been found to be creating two sets of tax returns, and cheated merchants out of money for goods and services.

Probably far more than that.

So WHY did this guy have to get elected PRESIDENT before there was a serious investigation or consequences?

And When he was the sole defendant...
he tended to either counter sue to get the plaintiff to back off or
just eventually settle and have all parties sign non-disclosure agreements.

His mistake this time was underestimating Russia's ability to gain access the actual vote counting apparatuses in key states...

45 has spent his whole life telling fish stories to investors & bankers & buyers etc...
over embellishment is just SOP in his world...

So he automatically assumes that every person he interacts with is also exaggerating their true capabilities....
Putin & Mercer surprised him regarding their technological prowess...

So now he has more spotlights on him than Shamu
and the bullshitting skills,
that come so naturally as a result of decades of practice,
& which have always been his super power....
are now his metaphorical kryptonite...

His automatic defense is to lie to cover up a previous lie...
each one more unbelievable that the one before it...

As a result he has now set himself up to be harpooned .....
