White House Rejects Ethics Inquiry Into Ex-Lobbyists

“The Trump administration, in a significant escalation of its clash with the government’s top ethics watchdog, has moved to block an effort to disclose the names of former lobbyists who have been granted waivers to work in the White House or federal agencies,” the New York Times reports.

“The latest conflict came in recent days when the White House, in a highly unusual move, sent a letter to Walter M. Shaub Jr., the head of the Office of Government Ethics, asking him to withdraw a request he had sent to every federal agency for copies of the waivers. In the letter, the administration challenged his legal authority to demand the information.”

“Dozens of former lobbyists and industry lawyers are working in the Trump administration, which has hired them at a much higher rate than the previous administration. Keeping the waivers confidential would make it impossible to know whether any such officials are violating federal ethics rules or have been given a pass to ignore them.”

4. I reject the (nonexistent) ethics of this White House...

Every single time I read the words White House and the realization of the vile people who occupy it now hits me, I want to throw up.
Life has become an alternate universe.
The destruction is insidious.
The Stupid in this country is an epidemic.
The Cretin, as we all here can see hourly, is destroying the fiber and decency of our country.

We RESIST. We advocate. We look forward. We March, sign petitions, locally join groups and that is all above and beyond using our one vote. We talk about taking back The House (Representative and White) with anger, sadness and resolve.

I am still plagued daily. Every single morning after hopefully, a mostly nightmare free handful of hours of sleep, I wake to new hideousness to battle.
I am one person. I cling to the belief that our fighting IS getting us somewhere. That collectively we can fight the Living Nightmare and reclaim a semblance of humanity before we lose it all.

It just....every day, at some point and always "there", even if only for a few fleeting moments before the surrealness of going about everyday life to stay sane gets me through another 24 hours...it scares me to the bone. I'm shaking beneath the calm exterior. I, and tens of millions like me are dancing on a precipice of a possible future of possible ruin like we've never known.

No one has the simple answers, I know, and we all are facing this calamitous new order of things in our own way.

I come here to find many things...comfort, hope, resolve, shared anger, outrage, soapbox oratory civil disagreement, sanity among lunacy, humor. Humanity.

I guess I just want to thank everyone for being here and coming here, too.

Will it end, ever???
How? When? Before I die? For my children and grandchildren?

I just don't know.
