45 asked intelligence chiefs to push back against FBI collusion probe after Comey revealed its exist

President Trump made separate appeals in March to Daniel R. Coats, the director of national intelligence, and Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, to help him push back against an FBI investigation into possible coordination between his campaign and the Russian government. Each refused to comply with the request, which they each deemed to be inappropriate, according to two current and two former officials. Trump made the request after then-FBI Director James B. Comey said the bureau was investigating possible coordination between Trump’s campaign and Russian officials.
