Fox News last week fell into third place during primetime in the coveted advertising demographic of 25-54 year-old viewers, the first time it had done so in 17 years, as rival network MSNBC surged into first place.

Adweek reported that last week was the first time that Fox finished third among cable-news networks in the coveted demo since June 2000, when the right-leaning network was still in its infancy.

According to Nielsen, MSNBC led the three cable networks between 8-11 p.m., averaging 611,000 viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, while dominating with 2,440,000 viewers overall.

CNN came in second with 589,000 in the coveted demographic, while remaining in third in total viewers with 1,649,000. Fox slid to to third with 497,000 viewers in the demo, and 2,405,000 overall.

As we are not getting the full story anyway, Nobody wants what's left even more watered down and ignored. And nobody is indulging spin.

Or just the absence of O'Reilly?

Methinks you give the deplorables too much credit.

Fux News' viewer dropoff is probably:

1. Their audience being old and dying off
2. Some of them moving onto Breitbart, Infowars, etc.

1. They've been old and dying off for over 20 yrs now.

2. Maybe the Gen Z'ers and the millenials. But the boomers and older? Nah....

It becomes boring fir their viewers to watch their station when they have no enemy.

Obama's gone, Hillary's lost emails and beneghazi become boring stories.

Or simply not able to afford cable no surprise. I am sure Fox news is still blaring in most office waiting rooms, airports, etc throughout US.

They gave Fox news for free with cheapest cable pkg. Maybe some are leaving for msnbc to watch the ones who left.
