Which created a deficit of almost 1.2 trillion for Obama to start with. Obama has never been able to get out of that hole.

..means one thing and one thing only. It means lower taxes on the rich. Period. That's all they ever mean by it. That's the top, bottom and middle of conservatism---conserving the rich man's money for the rich man. The hell with the commons and the country.

Though, it also demands cutting spending for the poor. The rich really do get richer, the poor really do get poorer.

Or maybe you are thinking of the British slang usage, which means "fool". But that's not racist either.

Sorry, gonna need a citation for this one.

this cartoon was probably 2-3 months before the $700 BILLION bank bailout. $482 was the projected Bush deficit in July 2008. The bailout happened in Nov 2008.

17. Right. By your estimation that last number should be 1.2 Trillion

That would require making the image larger for it to fit.

15. For those talking about the bank bailout

Wasn't that paid back?

The stimulus and the bank bailout were separate things and the stimulus was too small and contained too much in tax cuts which effectively increased the deficit but did nothing to stimulate the economy but were added to get Republicans on board who voted against it anyway.

Obama's 1st budget was smaller than Bush's last budget. It still was in deficit to keep the lights on but smaller due to cuts in nonessential items.

Obama reduced borrowing.

Meanwhile Republicans effectively voted against tax cuts and refuse to admit they happened just to deny Obama credit. They know all they have to do is say, "Obama raised your taxes" and their idiot base who doesn't even notice what they pay will believe it.

I prefer to refer to them as "borrow and spend" conservatives.

The 'tax and spend' is a label this liberal wears with pride...
