The Ugly American Writ Large

In Europe, at least, the image of the "ugly American" is a commonplace, and came to be through many thousands of American tourists barging their way through Europe, speaking English loudly as if to make themselves understood more clearly and insisting on being front and center for everything they do.

The "ugly Americans" were always an embarrassment to our nation, and most of us tried to counter that image through more polite behavior as guests in European countries.

Today, however, the very President of the United States became our "Ugly American in Chief" by shoving aside the leader of Montenegro to push himself in front of the group of NATO leaders who have gathered in Brussels. The video, which is going viral, even as we read DU today, will demonstrate to the world that the "ugly American" is a real thing, and is now represented by this nation's President.

I'd like to apologize to all who were deeply offended by Trump's behavior. I know it doesn't help, but I offer that apology anyhow. Many Americans are ashamed and mortified to have this man in the White House.

no one will convince me that it wasn't stolen, They planned this for some time and renting that post office building for a hotel was part of it.
Truth will out.
